My dad, who has always been somewhat of a gearhead, bought an f30 335i m-sport with x-drive a few months ago. Now, he's looking for some new wheels to get. Suggestions?
He has the same model posted, as far as the paint color (dat estoril blue) and wheels go at least. He wants a nice looking, 19" graphite/gunmetal (he got jealous after seeing mine, hehe) colored wheel. I tried to sell him on the Vossen CV3 but he didn't really like them. Any suggestions for a set of wheels under 2k?

Tirerack. Sort by weight. Pick lightest. Suddenly become concerned with weight of wheels. Search forums endlessly for different wheel weights and run a bunch of them by him.

BBS CH-Rs. Get them used, don't worry about them actually being used.
Titanium CH-Rs would look great on that.
Trust me, you'll thank me once he gets them.

Not sure if serious or trolling.

Let me know when the fuel pump fails.

That does look great. I was also looking at the Varrstoen ES5, looks similar in that it's a split spoke wheel with thin spokes. But damn do those look better.

Instead of the Varrstoen, go for VMRs. One of the better replica builders out there.
With the CH-Rs you can however generate absurd amounts of concavity if you chose to, its a nice bonus.

I'm plenty serious. What's wrong with CSL reps? They look good on any BMW. You can find all sorts of bimmers rocking CSLs. Heck, the E9x M3 competition pack included CSL style wheels.

I've just seen that as the go-to answer for wheels on a BMW and thought you were joking is all - they do look good but I've seen too many of them. Not my car so I can't judge.

And myself. How else would I have this knowledge.

Get Type 65s, my friend. They would look fantastic on your car.

Oh god. The Vossens are just about the most horrifying, tasteless rims I've even seen.
Anyways, BBS CH-R's as mentioned. Or 18" Volk TE37/SL.

Your troll radar needs to be retuned, it's throwing false positives.
I mentioned it *because* it's the go-to answer.

It's funny you should mention that, I've always had a love/hate thing with Vossen wheels. Unfortunately though those listed are a little out of the price range he has budgeted for wheels/tires.

Function>Form. Not sure if that applies towards a 335ix (boo xdrive, quattro ftw ._.), but normally I would have three sets of wheels: OEM for summer, cheap crap for winter, and some lightweight (Apex, etc) for autox/tracking.
Go on f30post/bimmerpost, and ask around. You COULD try getting 403M 19", using those as summers, and keep the 400M's as winters. Pretty sure you could get an OEM set somewhere.

Dammit. It's malfunctioning like my gaydar. Guess I need to go clean the dish...
